how it reads

one line in. three things out.

kira reads the line the moment you stop typing. no fields, no dropdowns, no tapping through a form.

01 / amount
8500 ramen

the number

kira finds the figure anywhere in the line. start, middle, or end. thousands and decimals both.

02 / currency
netflix 17 sgd

the currency

rm, sgd, thb, ₩, ¥. written however you'd actually type it. each entry keeps its own.

03 / category
grab home

the category

inferred from the words. coffee is food, grab is transport, netflix is a subscription.

multi-currency

built for crossing borders.

same lunch, wherever you are
RM 12.00
kuala lumpur

spend in ringgit one day and baht the next. each entry keeps its own currency, and everything adds up in your home currency, so the total always makes sense no matter how many borders you crossed this month.

what you get

more than a list of numbers.

logging is just the start. kira turns the lines you type into something you can actually read back.

reports

see where it actually went

every entry rolls into a monthly breakdown by category and currency. no tagging, no spreadsheet.

control

fix anything

got an entry wrong? edit or delete it in a tap. kira takes the first pass, you keep the last word.

export

take it with you

new phone? export your log and bring it over. you don't need pro, and you never start from empty.

backuppro

safe, on every device

back up your log and sync it across devices with kira pro. without it, nothing leaves your phone.

offline

works on the plane

logging runs fully on your phone. no connection, no account. the only things that go online are the pro extras: backup and smart match.

faq

questions, answered.

what is kira?
a multi-currency expense logger built around one motion: you type what you spent, in plain words, and kira reads it. no forms, no category to pick, no spreadsheet.
how do i log an expense?
type one line like rm12 coffee or 8500 won ramen and press enter. kira pulls out the amount, the currency, and the category on its own. that's the whole interaction.
how does it know the category?
it recognizes thousands of merchants and everyday words across the region, in several languages. coffee is food, grab is transport, netflix is a subscription. anything it doesn't recognize, smart match figures out for you. that part is kira pro.
which currencies does it support?
nine at launch: ringgit (RM), won (₩), sing dollar (S$), us dollar ($), yen (¥), baht (฿), taiwan dollar (NT$), hong kong dollar (HK$), and aussie dollar (A$). more as we go.
is it only for southeast asia?
no. it's built for the region people actually move between: korea, japan, taiwan, and hong kong are in from the start too, plus australia. "jom kira" just happens to be malay.
does it convert between currencies?
for your totals, yes. each entry keeps the currency you spent in, so the record stays honest, and it all lands in one home currency, so the month still makes sense no matter how many borders you crossed.
what if kira reads something wrong?
you can edit or delete any entry. kira takes the first pass, you keep the final say.
does it work offline?
yes. logging works on your phone with no connection, and kira reads what you type right there on the device. smart match, the pro feature that handles entries it doesn't recognize, is the one thing that needs the internet.
where is my data kept?
everything you log lives on your device. it stays there unless you choose to back it up.
can i back up or sync across devices?
yes, with kira pro. cloud backup and sync across your devices are part of the paid tier. without it, nothing leaves your phone.
can i get my data out?
yes. you can export your entries and take them with you. your data is yours.
does it do reports?
yes. alongside the running log, kira gathers everything into monthly totals and category breakdowns, so you can see where the money actually went.
is it free?
logging is free, with no limit on entries. kira pro adds smart match and cloud backup with sync across devices, and is coming after launch.
what platforms is it on, and when?
native apps for iOS and android, both at launch. it's in active development now, multi-currency from day one. no firm date yet, but it's close.
what does "jom kira" mean?
it's malay for "let's count", the nudge to log the thing before you forget. the name stuck.
who's behind kira?
kira is built by INTRVL.
